HASHIMOTO TOURNAMENT RESULTS: SAWYER REIGNS SUPREME

w-1shtournament1

On May 9, 2008 Ruthless Ryan Sawyer made his debut as a professional wrestler.  476 days later, he won the 2nd Annual Shinya Hashimoto Memorial Tournament!

Sawyer defeated Australian star Craven in round one, WORLD-1 heavyweight champion Steve Corino in the semi-finals, and then defeated North American champion Alex Anthony to win the tournament.

Although his tatics and demeanor have been questioned, there is no denying that Ryan Sawyer became a star this past Friday.

“No one thought I could do it, but I did.” said Sawyer exclusive to WORLD1Online.com, “People figured that either Corino or Anthony would win the tournament because they are the singles champions of W-1 but it was me that defeated both of them.  I have a lot of respect for what Shinya Hashimoto did in pro-wrestling but The Rage Of Ruthless began on August 28th and will not end until I finish the career of Kevin Payne.  Who’s going to bring the pain Kevin? Ruthless Ryan Saywer is.”

The future looks very bright for the 2009 Hashimoto Tournament winner and he has already made waves overseas as results of the tournament hit Japan minutes after his final round victory.

The 2010 Hashimoto Tournament will take place in July of next year. Early word is that 2008 Hashimoto winner Ricky Reyes has already made a bid to be entered.

Thank you to the fans that came out Friday night to the Langan Baseball Arena in Morganville, NJ.

W-1 & ZERO1 Together Again?

01max1

In 2004, Pro-Wrestling WORLD-1 started as a combination of the Premier Wrestling Federation and Pro-Wrestling ZERO-ONE.

Both companies has had their problems over the last five years but have survived. Many former W-1 wrestlers have fought in ZERO1 but as of March of this year, it seemed like the partnership was over when Steve Corino was not renewed for another contract.

But it was Yoshiyuki Nakamura, first president of WORLD-1 in 2004, and vice president of ZERO1 since the company founded in 2001 that reached out on Saturday morning with this statement:

“Hello WORLD-1 fans. I am Nakamura from ZERO1. I am very happy to see that W-1 is keeping the memory of Hashimoto Shinya alive in the US. He loved America and young wrestlers that were fighting for a chance to be big stars. I would like to send my congratulations to Ryan Sawyer for winning the 2009 Hashimoto Tournament in W-1. The Hashimoto family was very excited to see that W-1 sponsored this years tournament. ZERO1 will work with W-1 again! I will soon come to the USA and meet with Michael Kehner not only to bring American W-1 wrestlers to Japan but to bring Japanese ZERO1 wrestlers to America! Our World champion Masato Tanaka, Ikuto Hidaka, Minoru Fujita, and Kohei Sato have wrestled in the United States and love the fans. Please keep supporting W-1 in America and ZERO1 in Japan and see you soon!
Arigoto,
Y. Nakamura
First On Stage, LTD”

This is HUGE news for Pro-Wrestling WORLD-1. Could we see Masato Tanaka back in the US? Tanaka is the first W-1 champion and could be hungry to once again take the title match to Japan.

HAZE & ANTHONY: FRIENDS OR FOES?

North American champion Alex Anthony and former 3KWrestling Openweight champion Sean Haze have been friends for years.

They have trained together, fought together, and traveled together. It was Alex Anthony that recommended to Pro-Wrestling WORLD-1 officials to book Haze. And it was Haze that has inspired Anthony to work on his upper body, making his finisher, the 420, even more effective.

But on Friday night during the semi-final round of the Hashimoto tournament, Anthony advanced to the finals by pinning Sean Haze. Haze was not happy afterward and looked to be a little slow in helping Anthony after he was attacked by Ryan Sawyer.

“I was tired. I just wrestled a 15 minute draw with Erico and then a 12 minute three way. I wasn’t even thinking that Sawyer was going to attack Alex. When I realized it I made a save. I don’t understand why people are making a big deal out of it.” said Sean Haze, exclusive to WORLD1Online.com.

But many fans saw Haze pick up the North American title belt and look at it with a different look then he has had.

Could Haze be ready to turn on Anthony or are the fans and wrestlers over reacting? Keep watching WORLD-1 TV on Wednesday nights to see how this major story unfolds.

Two more matches added to Hashimoto event!

After months of continually interfering in GPS’ business, both Rockwell and Thunda will have to put their championships on the line against him and the 400 pound Beast. Arguably the two most popular athletes in WORLD-1, Beast and GPS are untested as a team, and many wonder how they will fare against the similar duo of Rockwell and Thunda!

The war between Greg Spitz and Super Sweet continues except this time they are both bringing back up! In the first ever mixed tag team match held inside Langan Baseball arena, Sweet brings his partner, Roxie Cotton, as Spitz brings his back up in the form of Foxy Foxxy. A win here could earn their respective male a shot at the WORLD-1 championship while a win for the females could be they in front running for the rumored WORLD-1 Woman’s championship.

Less than one week away

WORLD1online.com decided to take a look into the first round matches that will take place this Friday night in Morganville NJ.

qf1
Damian Dragon made his debut for WORLD-1 last week at “Summertime Showdown,” the same event where Steve Corino captured the WORLD-1 championship. Rob Dimension had the following to say:

Steve Corino is a proud entree and his first round opponent is Damian Dragon. Damian is a New Jersey mainstay and is an amazing competitor. He has speed, is young plus has a great variety of offensive and defensive maneuvers. While Corino has the poise and fighting spirit of the true competitor he is, this first round match up will certainly be a test. Corino’s advantage will be his experience and ability to adapt in the blink of an eye. Keep in mind, we are in no way over looking Damian Dragon. If there is an upset to be on this card, it’s this one. Steve is focused and determined. I will be, as always, in Mr. Corino’s corner.

This event is truly special for Steve, many that know him are aware of his love and admiration for Mr. Hashimoto. Winning the event named after, what could possibly be his greatest Boss, friend and mentor ever, will be a weighing heavily on Steve’s mind. I am proud and honored to represent Mr. Corino in this event. I encourage you, wrestling fans, come out and show your support and attend this exciting night of World 1 action.

qf2
Havoc, the mainstay of WXW-C4 Wrestling, and trained by the legendary Afa and Samu; is looking to make a major impact in the tournament by defeating the WORLD-1 North American champion in the first round. Alex Anthony on the other hand, is looking to continue his streak for 2009 and win the whole tournament. Anthony has defeated everyone that B4W officials have put in front of him and is undefeated in 2009. He told officials that winning the 2009 Hashimoto tournament would be the ultimate honor and achievement.

qf3
Ruthless Ryan Sawyer is looking to continue his path of destruction after breaking former partner, Kevin Payne’s leg back in June. He defeated the returning El Americano in a matter of minutes last week at Summertime Showdown and expects to do the same to Craven and anyone else who stands in his way. Craven on the other hand is looking to make a big name for himself since coming to the United States. His loss to Steve Corino on Saturday night has done nothing but motivate him to meet Corino somewhere in this tournament and go on to prove himself to the crowd in Morganville NJ.

qf4
Current PPW champion, Erico has big plans for his debut for WORLD-1 and was talking about it all weekend. Erico, has traveled all over the world and is ready to take on Sean Haze, who made his WORLD-1 return last month. This has the potential to be the match of the night as these guys might have the most to prove on this night!

The August 28th event, the Shinya Hashimoto memorial tournament 2009 will take place live at Langan Baseball (712 Ginesi Drive, Morganville NJ)
