Corino injured
During his epic 25 minute title defense
against Ricky Landell at International Incident, Steve Corino received a
Fisherman's suplex which caused a Type 2 separation of his shoulder and
a broken collarbone.
Corino was examined by B4W doctors to confirm he was not trying to pull
any tricks and doctors confirmed the injury is in fact very real. The injury
is expected to keep the champion out of action for at least 3 months.
Upon hearing that news B4W officials looked over the rule books to determine
what to do in this situation. It was discovered there is no rule stating
a champion must be stripped of the title for injury. The only way a champion
can be stripped of the gold is for failure to defend the belt within a reasonable
time. With that being said, it was clear 3 months was not reasonable, and
Mr Wrestling 3 would have to be stripped of the title.
Or so we thought. B4W officials received a call from Inner Circle personal
attorney Richard P Guille stating that Corino would like to elect an "acting"
champion, if B4W officials would agree to that request.
B4W officials met earlier today to debate whether or not Corino should be
allowed to elect a short term champion to defend his title, and decided
it would be proper, in this case, to allow him to do so.
The rules put forth by officials were simply this:
1. Whomever elected by Corino to defend the title in his place would be
the only one allowed to defend it. If he should go down with an injury,
Corino would have to forfeit the title.
2. Only one man would be allowed to defend the title for the next 3 months
and after that period, that person would receive a World title shot.
3. The elected person is to be treated by referees as if he were Steve Corino.
If the elected person loses the match by pin or submission he is subject
to losing the title much the same as Corino would be.
Steve Corino contacted B4Wpro.com tonight to state he agreed with the terms
put forth by B4W officials. He elected Tommy Thunda to take his place for
the next few months. An interesting twist as it seems the two had a little
animosity after International Incident last month.
